On March 4, 2025, Atlassian has announced the End of Sale for Opsgenie, marking the beginning of an important shift for teams currently relying on Opsgenie for alerting, on-call, and incident response management. This move is part of Atlassian’s broader strategy to reduce tool sprawl (something we can all appreciate) and bring more value to customers by integrating key features into their flagship platforms—Jira Service Management for IT operations and Compass for DevOps.
While this may initially seem like a big change for some, it also presents a great opportunity to streamline your IT operations and integrate your tools into Jira Service Management or Compass.
What Does This Change Mean for Opsgenie Customers Going Forward?
Effective June 4, 2025, there will no longer be an option to purchase, sign up, or upgrade/downgrade an existing Opsgenie license. However, additional seats and renewals will still be allowed, if these actions are concluded before the End of Support on April 5, 2027. Opsgenie has ensured the adjustment period allows ample time for organizations to plan their next steps. That said, we’ve seen with migrations to the Cloud over the pasts few years and know it’s best not to wait when making such an impactful decision for your organization.
On April 5, 2027, access to Opsgenie will be completely shut down, and any un-migrated customer data will be deleted. That’s why it’s crucial to plan for the migration process well before the support ends. But don’t worry, as an Atlassian Partner, we are committed to facilitating this transition as seamlessly as possible, providing support and guidance every step of the way.
